A personal blog of our amateur adventures. Mostly involving tents.
Trans-Catalina Trail backpacking
Cody and I embarked on our first un-guided backpacking trip to Catalina Island in mid-April.
Angels Landing
The magic lies in the 1,500 foot tall ½ mile stretch of rock rising out of the middle of Zion Canyon that makes up the middle section of the hike.
Crowders Mtn and Gorges State Park
Although we had this trip planned for months, it was 4pm, before we started packing.
Pisgah National Forest backpacking
We returned from our four day/ three night backpacking trip yesterday. Today my body feels stiff and the world outside of the woods feels like a haze.
Hanging Rock
The next day, we went on Moores Knob loop trail. Along the way, we looked at the boulders and wondered if we would be able to climb them and how they would be graded.
Meeting family in PA
It was a rough week before the trip to PA. I sprained my ankle in the front yard while taking out the garbage and then got a flat tire on my way to work on Friday.
Old Rag Mountain
Old Rag is such a fun (type 2) and interesting hike. There are so many other hikes in Shenandoah that I’d like to explore. With these short trips, it’s hard to make time to do others.
Shortoff Mountain
A short trip mid-week to Shortoff Mountain and South Mountain state park.
Lake Winnipesaukee, Mt. Pierce
I lived in NH for 3 years, from 2009-2012, and I never realized how much beauty surrounded me.
