Meeting family in PA

It was a rough week before the trip to PA. I sprained my ankle in the front yard while taking out the garbage and then got a flat tire on my way to work on Friday. According to TS, I damaged two modes of transportation that week! Work was also challenging with some very sick patients. C was kind, and helped me pack up while I was at work. I waited for him to pick me up at the end of the day, and we started on our roadtrip to PA. We had no hikes or tent sleeping planned, however it was a new adventure nonetheless.

We ate dinner at Cook Out during the drive. I had never been there before, and I don’t think I would go back. Quick and cheap fast food. We also split up the 8 hour drive, and spent the night at Sleep Inn in Summerville, getting in around midnight. We woke up early, got gas at Sheetz and breakfast at Starbucks.

First, we went to C’s cousin’s baby shower. She is having twins! It was a lot of family. We played with his nephew and niece. They wanted to play King and Queen. I was assigned to be the princess, and C was the monster. Later, the King turned into Iron Man and C turned into the principal. It was all a bit confusing, but good fun. We went back to his sister’s house, and later back to the Brewery again to spend time with his family. We shared a hamburger, hotdog, and pulled pork sandwich. Apparently, the band/ live music was supposed to be pretty good and draws in a lot of people.

Sunday was Father’s Day. We ate a lot of good food, but still no vegetables! Played some corn hole. Overall, quiet and lazy day. Monday was a much needed down day from social interactions. We discovered a nice coffee shop for breakfast.

On Tuesday, we went to his parent’s house for dinner. We had a fire and made mountain pies, Kielbasa, asparagus and fruit! His grandfather had forgotten he was invited, but soon came over to spend time with us. C’s parents are funny. A lot of crazy stories over their 30+ years of marriage.

On Wednesday, we started to make our way back home. We stopped at the Good Zoo in Oglebay. I had never seen or heard of a tamarin before, but it has become one of my favorite animals! We saw a gold lion tamarin with luscious red locks, and the cotton head tamarin looked like a true rock star with its crazy black and white hair. C had arranged for us to spend time and feed kangaroos, and it was also a lot fun.
