Hanging Rock
On Sunday, after C’s softball game, we packed up and started our drive to Hanging Rock. We ate our customary Panda Express on the way there… it was packed! Once we got to the campsite (#6), we set up our tent and read our books illuminated by our headlamps. We decided to forego the campfire.
The next day, we went on Moores Knob loop trail. Along the way, we looked at the boulders and wondered if we would be able to climb them and how they would be graded (“That looks like a V1 if you go up that way, but maybe a V3 if you went from this other side.”) It took us about 2.5 hours to complete the 4.7 miles, with an elevation gain of 1000 feet. We stopped at the lookout tower to eat our snacks. The view was very hazy, as we’re still impacted by the Canadian wildfires. I also recently made an impulse purchase and bought a Kodak Ektar H35 half frame camera. I’m not sure if I’m using it correctly, but we’ll see in a few months how my (lack of) film photography skills are.
Overall, it was a fun, short trip. We were both tired the day we left and contemplated driving up the next morning, but we’re glad that we ended up camping.
